Zurich – 5 November 2026, 11:11. Dada Kaffee, the window seat, a cup of black tea going cold next to the black notebook. Outside, the first person of the season walks past in a red scarf. I take that as a sign.

Why a Christmas cat

Every December the city fills up with reindeer, snowmen and a man with a beard who never once asked a cat for advice. I wanted someone of our own. A cat who brings presents but also knows when to sit quietly by the radiator. Her name came at a crew meeting, half joke, half spell: Cataclausita. Kinky laughed for a full minute. Then she wrote it in big letters on a napkin, and the napkin is now taped into my notebook. Nobody laughs at it anymore. Well, Kinky still does, but kindly.

How the poster was planned

Three pages, as always. Page one: the grid. Cataclausita stands slightly off centre, because a cat in the exact middle looks like she is waiting for a photo. Page two: the colours. Red, of course, but a warm red, with SinDee's winter blue around the edges and a little gold from PoshX for the light. Page three: the details. A sack of gifts, a KC badge on the hat, one paw raised as if she is about to knock on your door. Kinky drew the first version. I looked at it for a long time and said what I always say: "A bit to the left." She moved her. It was better.

What she means to us

Halloween was loud, and it was wonderful. CatMas should be the other half of the year: slower, warmer, more about who you sit next to than what you wear. Cataclausita is our reminder that a crew is not only for big nights. It is also for the dark afternoons when someone needs soup, or a phone call, or just a cat on the sofa.

Where to find her

The poster and the T-shirts are already in the shop. This afternoon SinDee is visiting a small bakery in Kreis 4 about a possible winter wall. I have written nothing about it in ink yet. Only a pencil question mark.
