Mode 2 (born 1967 in Mauritius) grew up in south London, started writing graffiti in 1983 and co-founded The Chrome Angelz in 1985. After settling in Paris in 1987 he became one of the leading figures of the Paris scene. He is best known for his figurative characters – above all his women and dancers – and for the character on the cover of the 1987 book Spraycan Art.

This page collects his official website, walls you can still see in Paris, Saint-Ouen, Marseille and Omagh, recent exhibitions such as Beyond the Streets, museum projects from the Palais de Tokyo to the Philharmonie de Paris, galleries selling his paintings and prints, auction searches, videos, books and the artists he painted with.

Mode 2 websites

Start with his own website, where he tells his story in his own words and shows drawings and paintings. Wikipedia in English and French gives the short version.

Mode 2 in public space – murals & sculptures

Few of his walls survive, as graffiti is painted over and Le M.U.R. hands its wall to a new artist each time. Recent pieces are recorded in Paris, Saint-Ouen, Marseille and Montpellier; the 2002 peace mural in Omagh is the best-known lasting work.

Mode 2 exhibitions

He shows in galleries more than on the street today. In 2026 he was part of Beyond the Streets in Paris; earlier solo shows include Transitions in Milan and Préludes in Paris (both 2016).

Mode 2 in museums

His work has been shown in museum projects rather than permanent collections that we could confirm: the Palais de Tokyo in 2014, the Philharmonie de Paris in 2021–22 and the Historisches Museum Saar in 2024–25.

Where to buy Mode 2 – galleries

Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan and Urban Spree in Berlin show and sell his paintings and prints. Many prints are hand-finished in small runs – ask for the edition number and signature.

Mode 2 blogs & articles

Reports and interviews that explain his background, from the Covent Garden scene and Crime Time Kings to Le M.U.R. and the Klimt Illustrated event. His own blog adds first-hand detail.

Mode 2 auction results

Mode 2 appears at auction less often than better-known names, so results are sparse. Compare prints of the same edition and check whether a price includes the buyer's premium.
