Shepard Fairey and OBEY: Screenprints, Posters and Stickers
Shepard Fairey is an American artist and designer who founded OBEY, a project that began with his "Obey Giant" sticker campaign and grew into a large body of street art, prints and a clothing brand. His graphic style, inspired by propaganda posters, punk and skate culture, is instantly recognizable. This page collects current eBay listings for Shepard Fairey OBEY screenprints, posters, stickers and related items.
What you find on eBay
- Obey screenprints: editioned prints, often signed and numbered in pencil.
- Obey posters: offset posters and exhibition posters with his imagery.
- Obey stickers: stickers and sticker packs, a nod to the project's roots in sticker art.
Screenprint or poster? Know the difference
Shepard Fairey releases many of his images as a screenprint, a print made by pushing ink through a mesh screen, one color at a time. These prints are typically issued in a limited edition and hand-signed. Many of the same images also exist as cheaper offset posters or open editions. The image can look similar on screen, but the market treats them very differently, so read every listing carefully.
What drives value
- Signature and numbering: a pencil signature and an edition number point to an editioned release. Learn more about signed and unsigned prints.
- Color variants: some images were released in several colorways, which may be separate editions.
- Condition: screenprints are sensitive to creases, dings at the corners, handling marks and fading.
- Documentation: order confirmations, receipts and original shipping tubes help show where a print came from.
How to check before you buy
Ask for clear photos of the full sheet, the signature, the edition number and the back of the print. Compare the image, size and paper with reliable reference sources. Be careful with listings that use a famous title but show only a stock image, or that describe a poster as a signed screenprint without close-up photos. Popular Shepard Fairey OBEY images are frequently reproduced, so a little extra checking is worthwhile.
When it comes to framing, acid-free materials and UV-protective glass help keep the colors and paper in good shape over time.
